Shopping when you are petite can be difficult. Shopping when you are shorter than petite can be even more challenging. For those that don’t know, a “petite” style of something is for someone that is 5’4” and under, as someone who is 4’11” I would say these petite clothes help SO much with proportions, but most times I still have to take clothes to my alterations lady (who is the bomb btw). Getting petite clothes doesn’t prevent me from having to get alterations done, but it does keep the work that has to be done to a minimum, therefore, keeping the price to a minimum. Below are my favorite places to find petite clothes!

LOFT
LOFT is definitely #1 on this list. They have such a HUGE petite section online, and have sales all the time! I can’t remember the last time I bought something full price there. One of my favorite items to get from LOFT is their sweaters. It is one of the only places I have found that have short enough sleeves for me. I also love so many of their tops and pants! I ended up having to get all new outfits for my engagement pictures, and the outfit at the top of this article is completely from LOFT, and I didn’t have to get anything altered!
Some of their stores have amazing petite sections while others are lacking quite a bit. If you live in an area where your petite section is lacking, no worries! Simply order everything you want to try on and then return to the store within 30 days! You still get to try on everything you want, keep what you need, and there is no return shipping to pay for!
Express
Express is definitely a new store for me. Over the past few years, they have expanded their petite section SO much. You might be surprised, but they really have some amazing trendy options for petite gals! My favorite thing to get from here is jeans! They have so many different styles of petite jeans ranging from flare to skinny to fleece-lined! I LOVE my fleece-lined jeans from here now that I live in Chicago.
Athleta
Workout gear can be so hard to fit a petite frame. With so many styles being high-rise, it makes it hard to find leggings that don’t come up to your bra, but Athleta has a huge variety of petite options that make it so easy to find just the gear you need. PLUS they will hem any of their items for free if you are lucky enough to have an Athleta store near you. They also have a Give-It-A-Workout Guarantee, meaning you can try it out and if you don’t like it you can return it ANYTIME (before hemming) which I think is SO cool. Sometimes you think a pair of leggings are going to be perfect for you and then you work out in them and they will not stay put no matter what you do. Even though I have never had to return anything (because it’s all been amazing), it is great to know you can return them and get a refund!
Gap
Gap and Athleta are owned by the same company, so it is no surprise that they have a great petite selection as well. I love getting workout tops here as well as casual everyday tops! I love that they have lots of casual and workout tops that are proportioned for petites. They also have great sales, and I can’t remember the last time I bought something full price from here.
Nordstrom
Who doesn’t love a good Nordstrom shopping spree? Since Nordstrom has SUCH a big variety of items, you can always find some great petite shopping! And with free shipping and free returns, it is so simple! If I have something specific I need, I can usually find it at Nordstrom!
